About Rhytedectomy or Facelift Surgery

Technically known as rhytidectomy, a facelift is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck, such as:

• Sagging in the midface
• Deep creases below the lower eyelids
• Deep creases along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth
• Fat that has fallen or is displaced
• Loss of muscle tone in the lower face that creates jowls
• Loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw that can make even a person of normal
weight appear to have a double chin

Rejuvenation procedures typically performed in conjunction with a facelift are brow lift, to correct a sagging or deeply furrowed brow, eyelid surgery to rejuvenate aging eyes, fat transfer to restore facial fullness and laser resurfacing procedures.

About Leonard Tachmes, M.D.,P.A

Dr. Leonard Tachmes was born in Havana, Cuba and raised in Miami Beach.  A graduate of Miami Beach Senior High School, he received his BS degree from Duke University, and his MD degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. 

He completed a fellowship in Plastic Surgery of the Breast and Reconstructive Microsurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan;  A residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals; a residency in General Surgery at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and an internship in surgery at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Dr. Tachmes is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  He is author/co-author of fourteen scientific research papers published in various journals of medicine and surgery.  He is in his fourteenth year of private practice in Miami.
