Microdermabrasion can be performed right on spa premises; it's non-invasive with very little downtime. Today's technology ensures a painless procedure, using one of these two methods:

• Crystal microdermabrasion involves the blasting of microscopic crystals onto the skin's surface, exfoliating it.
• With diamond microdermabrasion, the wand used in the procedure has a diamond-tipped head that acts an abrasive.

For both methods, the wand device we use is equipped with a vacuum that removes the dead skin that is exfoliated.

While microdermabrasion is not right for all skin problems, it's quickly becoming our most popular procedure.

About Leonard Tachmes, M.D.,P.A

Dr. Leonard Tachmes was born in Havana, Cuba and raised in Miami Beach.  A graduate of Miami Beach Senior High School, he received his BS degree from Duke University, and his MD degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. 

He completed a fellowship in Plastic Surgery of the Breast and Reconstructive Microsurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan;  A residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals; a residency in General Surgery at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and an internship in surgery at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Dr. Tachmes is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  He is author/co-author of fourteen scientific research papers published in various journals of medicine and surgery.  He is in his fourteenth year of private practice in Miami.
